we do it for
the culture:
hip hop @ 50

Hart House, University of Toronto

Created for the 50th anniversary of the birth of Hip Hop, this design speaks to the breath and scope of Hip Hop and its many facets, as well as showcasing the diversity and evolution of the culture. This design was used for Hart House, specifically tied to their hip hop education programming, and used across U of T channels, social and digital displays, to celebrate this monumental event in music and cultural history.

I created a two collages, to be used in the space of time for the 6 months the campaign would run so the imagery would be related but able to be refreshed without losing cohesiveness design wise. We created poster, social assets, reels, buttons, and stickers among other items.

Hip Hop culture – now a global cultural export – is more than an expression of the creative arts. Hip Hop culture has shaped the contours of our everyday life, practices, and institutions – including the knowledge production practices of the university

Co-Presented with The Urban, York University; and the Roots Rhymes Collective.
